Group Training Specialist

This qualification is an NQF4 qualification aimed at the learner who wants to pursue a career in the health and fitness industry as a fitness instructor, in the context of exercise to music. Group Training Specialist is designed to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to plan and instruct group classes. It is a practical, fun and versatile course that will allow you to give group fitness classes in a high-energy atmosphere.

You will learn the principles of HiiT training which equips you with the skills to incorporate HiiT training into your group exercise classes in a boot camp format. HiiT and Bootcamp Training is a very popular way of training athletes, as it emphasises the body’s natural ability to move. It’s also a fun, highly effective way to improve fitness and gain muscle tone.

Gain insight on how to structure a variety of Group Training programmes including: Tabata routines, hard, harder, hardest routines, Little method, Fartlek method and MITT method.The routines will empower the instructor to create fun, interactive, group training sessions which will keep your clients on their toes and wanting more. You will also learn how to incorporate the following into your group exercise classes:

 GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR MODULE

  • Assist fitness participants to successfully implement an exercise programme to music
  • Lead participants safely and effectively through a structured choreographed exercise
  • Demonstrate the verbal and nonverbal communication skills required to teach exercise
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilise various communication and teaching methods
