This course links functional exercises with yoga concepts and theories. It is strictly based on the physical practices of yoga from a sports science perspective and does not cover any philosophical teachings. You will learn, among other things, how to link yoga postures with functional exercises by exploring the muscles and movements required to achieve correct posture and alignment, as well as how to progress, modify and structure sequences based on kinesiological awareness. With this course you will be able to teach beginner yoga classes in a mainstream gym or studio environment. It is ideal for anyone looking to secure a basic-level teaching credential and for fitness professionals looking to enhance their understanding of the body and extend their scope of practice.

How is this course presented? (Study mode & duration)
This is a lectured short course consisting of 6 workshops with theoretical and practical components. You will receive a hard copy manual and will be required to complete 4 assignments, 1 practical exam, 1 theory exam and 20 log-hours in a yoga training environment.

This is a basic training programme that will enable you to instruct at a beginner level within a gym or studio environment. Should you wish to pursue further training that will advance your level of instruction and enable you to provide more comprehensive offerings, we offer a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Trainer course.
The 200-hour course is an intensive, fully comprehensive course in yoga instruction and teacher training presented by an accredited ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher). Upon completion of the course you will have a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical science of yoga, as well as its psychological and philosophical dimensions. You will also be able to implement advanced teaching methods.
Should you wish to explore other opportunities within fitness, we also provide a number of short and continuing education courses focused on developing specific skills to help you increase your scope of practice and marketability and receive CPD points in order to be recognised by international industry bodies.
