This is an intensive, 200-hour, fully comprehensive course in yoga instruction and teacher training presented by Ashleigh Caradas, an accredited ERYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) and Principal Instructor at HFPA Yoga School.
The training centres around Vinyasa flow, but also draws from Ashtanga yoga. Upon completion of the course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the anatomical science of yoga, as well as its psychological and philosophical dimensions. You will also be able to implement advanced teaching methods.

What is the HFPA Yoga School?
As a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance, offering a 200-hour training programme, we are bound by strict standards and requirements established to promote and support the integrity and diversity of the teaching of yoga. As such our training must be relevant to the five Yoga Alliance educational categories listed below and we must provide a minimum number of hours of study for each category:

Our course runs from our health and fitness academy and wellness centre in Rivonia, Johannesburg. Boasting 3 beautiful studios with modern shower facilities and change-rooms, multi-media lecture facilities, a fully-equipped Pilates studio and a state-of the-art gym, we provide a world-class learning experience in an exceptional environment.
Who is Ashleigh Caradas?
Ashleigh is the Principal Yoga Instructor at HFPA Yoga School. She is a dedicated yogi, yoga teacher and dietician from South Africa. She took her first yoga class 18 years ago and knew, from that day on, that she would be doing yoga for the rest of her life. She completed her 200-hour teacher training in Goa, India, in 2009, and has been teaching Vinyasa flow classes ever since. Her travels have seen her venture across the world to draw inspiration from yoga teachers far and wide and she is well-practiced in Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hot Vinyasa, Iyengar, Bikram, Forrest and Jiva Mukti yoga. On top of this, she is a registered dietician with a medical honours degree in nutrition and dietetics. She is also involved in yoga therapy for autistic children and is a free-lance health journalist for the likes of Living and Loving magazine and Business Day Health News.
How long will it take to complete the course?
The course runs over 6 months (25 weeks) on a part-time basis (evening and weekend lectures). Attendance is mandatory in order to meet the 180 facilitated hours and 20 log hours required for the Yoga Alliance 200-hour quota.
What are the contents of the course?
We have incorporated our Introduction to Exercise Science course as a component of the main syllabus in order to provide you with a basic understanding of how the body functions and how it responds to exercise in general.
We have also included our Yoga Muscles and Motion short course as an introductory component that links functional exercises with yoga concepts and theories.
Integrating this knowledge in the context of yoga instruction is important in fostering knowledgeable instructors who can help their clients understand what is going on in their bodies and facilitate healthy and safe practice.
You will receive an additional certification for each of these components.

Do I need any previous qualifications to enroll for the course?
It is recommended that you have been attending Yoga classes for at least a year before enrolling in this course.
How will I be recognised once I have completed this course?
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive an internationally recognised qualification as a 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Trainer. With a certificate from our Registered Yoga School (RYS) you are eligible to apply for registration and use of the Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) credential that verifies your training and teaching experience meets Yoga Alliance requirements. On top of this you can gain visibility across Yoga Alliance’s directories and platforms and join a community where you can network, share ideas and establish important professional relationships.
What job opportunities are available once I have completed the course?
With the increase of health conscious individuals around the world and a movement towards stress reduction and mindfulness, the yoga industry has grown enormously in the last 5 years. According to the latest US statistics from Report Linker, the number of Americans practicing yoga grew from 15.8 million in 2008 to 20.4 million in 2015, and this figure is predicted to continue to grow over the next 5 years.
Career opportunities are boundless.
