The Sports Conditioning occupational skills certification has been developed to provide comprehensive training for certified fitness professionals wanting to increase their scope of practice.
You will be able to work in sports conditioning settings, allowing you to apply advanced programme design and conditioning methods in the fields of strength conditioning and high performance training to prepare athletes to compete at the top of their sport.
We use a blended learning approach (online and workshops) where workshops (optional) are scheduled from our main centres quarterly allowing you to study from anywhere and register at any time.

Online learning (from the HFPA online learning platform – OLP) with workshops (optional) offered from the main centres.
6-12 month duration
20 hours contact time (optional). Workshops structured nationally

Dedicated online support (superior online learning platform, interactive online resources, personal online tutor, full complement of online support staff)
Online Tutor, (full complement of online support staff). We allocate one of our online tutors for every 20 students that register.

Upon completion of this course you are able to offer specific training to enhance individual and team performance in Schools and Sport Specific environments. You can also work with individual clients to help optimise their performance
You will also learn the skills of periodising an athlete’s training to ensure the athlete peaks at the right times of year and to prevent an athlete from being over-trained or undergo injury.
A larger scope of practice will enhance your earning potential.

Do I need any previous qualifications to enroll in this course? (Entry requirements)
To be accepted into certain courses you may be required to hold a prior qualification (prerequisite) or have specific skills or experience. This is important to ensure that you can learn at a certain academic level and are comfortable and confident with the course work.
In order to enrol in our Sports Conditioning Coach course you should hold a recognised and relevant NQF 5 qualification (Personal Trainer) in the field of exercise or fitness (or equivalent). Alternatively, should you not meet this requirement, you can consider the options below:
Follow a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process to ascertain if you can enter the course with a reasonable chance of success.
Apply for mature age exemption through Higher Education South Africa (HESA) if you are over 23 years of age.
How will I be recognised once I have completed this course? (Accreditation & certification)
An important factor in realising a successful career in health and fitness is choosing a reputable academic institution that has been through an accreditation process and is recognised and trusted by employers and recruiters in the industry.
HFPA is a registered training provider for the Council on Higher Education as well as CATHSSETA. The Sports Conditioning skills programme (FIT/SPCONDCOACH/5/0091)) is registered as a skills programme and bares 81 credits.
