Fitness instructors play an integral role in creating a safe, clean, friendly and professional gym environment. Their duties extend to greeting and welcoming clients, assisting clients in the proper use of equipment and with correct technique, advising clients on generic exercise programmes and ensuring the gym is neat and tidy and all safety precautions and procedures are followed.
This course will equip you with all the skills necessary to meet the duties of a fitness instructor. You will learn, among other things, the basics of anatomy and exercise physiology, the use of equipment, gym safety procedures, resistance training techniques, motivation skills and communication and customer services skills.

How is this course delivered? (Study mode & duration)
This is an online home-study course with a 6 month completion period. You will have access to all the coursework and assignments via our online learning platform (OLP) and will be able to attend a theory and practical workshop for revision purposes. These workshops are held on a monthly basis at all our main campuses (Johannesburg, Cape Town & Durban). You will also be allocated a dedicated online tutor to provide additional support if required.

At least a grade 10 is required to complete this course.

Upon completion of this course you will receive an HFPA Fitness Instructor certification.
If you registered after 6 December 2016 and successfully complete your course, you will receive a CATHSSETA accredited occupational certificate worth 28 credits (FIT/INSTRUCT/4/0085 )
